Religious studies applied in interreligious contexts
Religionswissenschaft zur Anwendung bringen ist eine Herausforderung für das Fach, insbe-sondere mit Blick auf den Reflexionsstandort als Kulturwissenschaft. Die Nähe und Distanz zur Theologie sowie zum Feld sind dabei die am häufigsten debattierten Aspekte. Dabei ist die Aufgabe als Reflexionsort unumstritten, die Nähe zum Feld, hier der interreligiöse Dialog, ist es, das Fragen der akademischen Distanz und Urteilsfähigkeit aufwirft. Gleichzeitig er-möglicht eine aktive Teilnahme am Dialog den Zugang zu Wissen, welches auch für die religi-onswissenschaftliche Wissensproduktion notwendig ist. Anhand dreier Feldbeispiele der an-gewandten Religionswissenschaft im interreligiösen Feld werden sowohl methodische Mög-lichkeiten sowie Chancen relevanter Wissensproduktion für den interreligiösen Dialog aufge-zeigt.

Putting religious studies into practice is a challenge for the subject, especially with regard to its place of reflection as a cultural science. Proximity and distance to theology and to the field are the most frequently debated aspects. The task as a place of reflection is undisputed, the proximity to the field, in this case interreligious dialog, is what raises questions of academic distance and judgment. At the same time, active participation in dialog enables access to knowledge, which is also necessary for the production of religious knowledge. Based on three field examples of applied religious studies in the interreligious field, both methodological pos-sibilities and opportunities of relevant knowledge production for interreligious dialog are shown.
