Konfirmandenarbeit in Europa. Exemplarische Befunde einer vergleichenden empirischen Studie Von Henrik Simojoki, Wolfgang Ilg und Friedrich Schweitzer Europa als Bildungsraum und Horizont der Religionspädagogik In jüngster Zeit wächst in der Pädagogik und Religionspädagogik die Einsicht, dass Fragen religiöser Bildung und Erziehung nicht mehr in ausschließlich nationalstaatlicher Perspektive erörtert werden können. Mitbedingt durch die politische und ökonomische Europäisierung, die auch kulturelle und religiöse Dimensionen einschließt und Bildungsfragen nicht unberührt lässt, gerät vor allem auch der Bildungsraum Europa verstärkt in den Blick. Europa und Bezüge auf Europa können dabei einen Bildungsinhalt darstellen, zugleich aber auch einen Bezugshorizont für die internationale Forschung und Theorieentwicklung. Beispielsweise kann es von Interesse sein, ob korrespondierende Bildungsangebote in verschiedenen Ländern zu ähnlichen Ergebnissen führen. Allerdings fällt auf, dass sich die bisherigen Versuche, Prozesse und Strukturen religiöser Erziehung und Bildung im europäischen Horizont zu erforschen, weitgehend auf den Religionsunterricht der Schule beschränken. Empirical findings and overarching trends
Confirmation work is one of the defining features for many Protestant churches in Europe. In Scandinavia in particular, it is also strongly anchored in society. On the one hand, the development of confirmation rates shows that young people are still very willing to be confirmed, but on the other hand, a gradual decline in confirmation rates can be observed in all the countries involved in the European study. The empirical study on confirmation work presented here examined confirmation work in nine European countries in the 2021/22 confirmation year, including Austria, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Norway, Poland, Sweden and Switzerland. The confirmands expressed a high level of satisfaction with their confirmation time. The results highlight the relevance of a participatory approach: When confirmands are invited to express their opinions and influence topics and activities, their learning outcomes improve significantly. In many places, the transitions between Confirmation work and church youth work become fluid, which is in line with the aim of participation.
