Empirical Findings and Overarching Trends] Wolfgang Ilg, Henrik Simojoki & Manuela Hees Zusammenfassung Die Arbeit mit Konfirmandinnen und Konfirmanden (Konfi-Arbeit) hat in vielen protestantischen Kirchen in Europa einen hohen Stellenwert. Insbesondere in Skandinavien ist sie auch gesellschaftlich stark verankert. Die Entwicklung der Konfirmationsquoten zeigt einerseits die nach wie vor hohe Bereitschaft junger Menschen, sich konfirmieren zu lassen, andererseits lässt sich in allen hier untersuchten Ländern ein allmählicher Rückgang der Konfirmationsquoten konstatieren. Die diesem Artikel zugrundeliegende empirische Studie zur Konfi-Arbeit untersuchte das Arbeitsfeld in neun europäischen Ländern im Konfi-Jahr 2021/22, beteiligt waren Dänemark, Deutschland, Finnland, Norwegen, Österreich, Polen, Schweden, Schweiz und Ungarn. Die befragten Jugendlichen äußern eine hohe Zufriedenheit mit ihrer Konfi-Zeit. Deutlich wird die Bedeutung der Partizipation. Empirical findings and overarching trends
Confirmation work is one of the defining features for many Protestant churches in Europe. In Scandinavia in particular, it is also strongly anchored in society. On the one hand, the development of confirmation rates shows that young people are still very willing to be confirmed, but on the other hand, a gradual decline in confirmation rates can be observed in all the countries involved in the European study. The empirical study on confirmation work presented here examined confirmation work in nine European countries in the 2021/22 confirmation year, including Austria, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Norway, Poland, Sweden and Switzerland. The confirmands expressed a high level of satisfaction with their confirmation time. The results highlight the relevance of a participatory approach: When confirmands are invited to express their opinions and influence topics and activities, their learning outcomes improve significantly. In many places, the transitions between Confirmation work and church youth work become fluid, which is in line with the aim of participation.
