Jahrhunderts und die christlichen Zeitschriften seit dem 18. Jahrhundert bis in die Gegenwart mit ihren Möglichkeiten elektronischer Publikation. Kern der christlichen Botschaft, die eine solche kontinuierliche publizistische Praxis ausgebildet hat, ist ein provozierender Kontraktpunkt zum Selbstverständnis aller Gesellschaften seit der Jungsteinzeit: Der Grundmechanismus humaner Gesellschaften lautet äVergebung statt Vergeltung" (vgl. Gen. 50) und die höchste Autorität ist durch den Gedanken des ägütigen Vaters" (Luk 15) oder die äentgegenkommende Liebe" (1 Joh 4,16) repräsentiert.

Christian journalism, the theory of Christian preaching practice, emerged as a sub-discipline of Practical Theology in the 1960s along with other sub-disciplines such as diakonia, oikodomics, and oikonomics in response to the development of a variety of media techniques. In a broader sense, the term refers to the whole practice of public presentation of the Christian message since the days of the apostles. Thereafter, the variety of the Christian proclamation ranges from the writings of the New Testament, the Church Fathers and theologians of the Middle Ages and the Reformation, the pamphlets of the 16th and 17th centuries and the Christian journals from the 18th century to the present with their possibilities of electronic publication. At the heart of the Christian message, that has developed such a continuous journalistic practice, is a provocative point of controversy about the self-understanding of all societies since the Neolithic: The basic mechanism of humane societies is äforgiveness rather than retribution" (see Gen. 50) and the highest authority is represented by the thoughts of the äbenevolent Father" (Luke 15) or the äoncoming love" (1 John 4:16).
